Notorious bandit kingpin, Sani Yellow, has resurfaced in a video to dismiss widespread reports claiming he was killed during a recent security operation in Zamfara State.
Naija News reports that the video surfaced on Wednesday via the social media platform 𝕏, where a user identified as Mobilisingnigerians shared footage of the suspected bandit leader insisting he was alive.
The development comes just days after reports emerged that a notorious bandit commander known as Kachalla Sani Yellow had been killed during a security operation in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
In the video, Sani Yellow rejected claims of his death, while the accompanying statement explained that the individual killed during the operation was another commander who also bore the nickname “Yellow.”
According to the post, the confusion stemmed from the widespread use of the alias among armed bandit groups operating in the North-West.
The statement accompanying the video read: “UPDATE: Alhaji Sani Yellow posted a video denying his death that occurred two days ago, which was wrongly posted on social media.
“However, the image of the dead bandit killed is a commander, Yellow, loyal to Gwaska. The name Yellow has become a popular name and a nickname in the banditry world.”
The clarification has cast doubt on earlier reports identifying the slain suspect as the notorious bandit leader, suggesting instead that the deceased was another commander allegedly working under a bandit kingpin known as Gwaska.
Earlier Reports Linked Death To Zamfara Operation
Initial reports had indicated that Kachalla Sani Yellow, a feared bandit commander accused of orchestrating several deadly attacks along the Anka–Bagega Road and surrounding communities, was killed during a coordinated security operation in Zamfara State.

The operation was reportedly carried out with the support of the Maiduguri Special Vigilantes, who have been assisting security agencies in ongoing counter-banditry efforts across the region.
Following the operation, the body of the slain suspect was reportedly displayed to residents in Anka as evidence of the mission’s success.
However, the emergence of the latest video has sparked fresh uncertainty over the true identity of the individual killed, with security authorities yet to issue an official clarification on the conflicting claims.
The incident highlights the difficulty of verifying the identities of notorious bandit leaders, many of whom reportedly operate under similar aliases within criminal networks across Nigeria’s North-West.
